About Otto Orf and Heart & Sole

OTTO ORF is a former 21 year professional indoor, outdoor and futsal goalkeeper. His career has taken him from his hometown of Buffalo (New York) to Boston, Columbus, Toronto, Ft. Wayne, San Diego, Chicago, Orlando, and eventually to Cleveland where he has resided since 1989.

He created HandsOnSoccer camps in 1991; the HandsOnSports Foundation (501.c3) in 2006; co-founded the Great Lakes Futsal Futsal Leagues in 2006-7 and most recently has founded Heart and Sole Futsal Academy in 2013.

The Futsal Academy was created to provide the highest level of instruction and competition for aspiring futsal and soccer players in NE Ohio. Since this time Otto has traveled across Europe, central and South America educating himself and competing internationally with teams at the youth and adult levels.


  • 1996, Otto Orf is chosen as the US Men’s National Futsal Team goalkeeper and wins the gold medal at the first CONCACAF Futsal Competition in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Orf was awarded the goalkeeper of the tournament as the US team qualified to compete in the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Segovia, Spain 1996.
  • In 2006-2007 Chris Dore and Otto Orf create the Great Lakes Futsal League (formerly Cleveland Futsal League) for 18 years have been growing the league from 65 teams at one location in it’s first year to over 300 teams at 4 locations each winter in 2023.
  • 2014 Otto was invited to be part of the CONCACAF Futsal Symposium where the futsal curriculum for the confederation was developed.
  • 2016 Otto is invited to deliver the first CONCACAF futsal coaching course on the island of Guadeloupe.
  • 2018 Otto is invited to assist in coaching the U18 girls from Trinidad & Tobago at the Junior Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
  • 2019 Otto becomes assistant and goalkeeping coach for the US Men's Futsal National team.
  • 2019 Otto attends UEFA Futsal Coaching Development Program in Eerikkala, Finland.
  • 2021 team USA wins the silver medal at the CONCACAF Futsal  Championships and qualifies for the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania.
  • 2009-present. HandsOnSports Foundation (HOSF), has taken youth teams to the US Youth Futsal National Championships in Kansas City winning 10 national titles in the past 5 years. We also traveled with 2 high school teams to Canada’s first international Futsal Invitational Tournament in Toronto.expansion to a second school this December.
